Read the researchA Correction: Our Seniority Pyramid Was Measuring Job Titles, Not Seniority
This page used to open with a clean number: 61% of active postings want senior or above, and product is the worst field for newcomers at roughly 69 senior openings per entry-level one. Checking that classifier against the postings themselves, both figures turn out to be reading job title vocabulary rather than seniority. The rule that assigns a seniority band treats any title containing the word manager as senior, so office manager, store manager, social media manager and product manager all count as senior openings. In product, 82% of everything the classifier called senior got there through the word manager. The direction of the original finding survives and the specific numbers do not, so the numbers are corrected here rather than quietly edited away.
