The role

The Knauf Laboratory, led by Dr. Felix Knauf, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology & Hypertension at Mayo Clinic , is dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms of kidney disease and translating these discoveries into precision therapies. The group's research focuses on oxalate and sulfate homeostasis and how genetic variation in their transporters influences cardiovascular and musculoskeletal health.

By integrating mouse genetics, organoid systems, human iPSC-derived models, and large biobank cohorts, the laboratory bridges fundamental discovery, translational research, and clinical investigation.
