Systems Administration / IT Infrastructure
The most natural entry path. Sysadmins who manage on-premise servers, networks, and storage already understand the concepts that cloud platforms abstract. Learning AWS or Azure is learning a new interface for familiar problems. Start with AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification (2-3 months of study) and begin migrating workloads.
Software Engineering (Backend)
Backend engineers who deploy their own services naturally drift toward infrastructure. If you have written Dockerfiles, configured CI/CD pipelines, or set up monitoring, you are already doing cloud engineering. The gap is depth: networking, security, cost optimization, and multi-region architecture.
Network Engineering
