At Google, we put our users first. The world is always changing, so we need Product Managers who are continuously adapting and excited to work on products that affect millions of people every day. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to guide products from conception to launch by connecting the technical and business worlds. You can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development. One of the many reasons Google consistently brings innovative, world-changing products to market is because of the collaborative work we do in Product Management.
Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users. Most people think of YouTube as a video platform. But every day, people create far more images and text on YouTube than videos: comments, community posts, live chat messages, video thumbnails, channel profile pictures, banners, names, and descriptions.
These features are everywhere across the product, they are growing quickly, and new ones launch all the time. Keeping them safe sustainably is one of the largest problems in Trust and Safety. At YouTube, we believe that everyone deserves to have a voice, and that the world is a better place when we listen, share, and build community through our stories. We work together to give everyone the power to share their story, explore what they love, and connect with one another in the process.
Working at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and boundless creativity, we move at the speed of culture with a shared goal to show people the world. We explore new ideas, solve real problems, and have fun — and we do it all together.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. US: $163000 - $236000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits Learn more about benefits at Google .
Responsibilities: Understand how our policies, our detection systems, and our human enforcement fit together today, articulate a compelling picture of where image and text safety needs to be, and make the case for what has to change—in policy, in systems, or in process—to get there. Define how we measure this for every feature and every policy, and you own the goals. Turn today's one-off, feature-by-feature safety work into a shared system that any team at YouTube can plug into. Support fewer and better detection models instead of many overlapping ones. Make deliberate trade-offs about where to spend and where to simplify.
Minimum qualifications: Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience in product management or related technical role. 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch (e.g., ideation to execution, end-to-end, 0 to 1, etc.). Experience developing or launching products or technologies within artificial intelligence or Machine Learning (AI/ML).
Experience in trust and safety, product policy, business strategy, or a related field. Experience developing product strategy for AI/ML-driven products or product features. Preferred qualifications: Experience in trust and safety, content moderation, or abuse prevention for user-generated content. Experience defining quality or safety metrics and building the measurement behind them (sampling, human rating programs, automated raters).
Experience owning a platform or shared service used by many internal product teams. Experience making engineering trade-offs between accuracy, speed, and cost in machine learning systems. Experience designing operational response processes with operations or support teams. Ability to bring clarity and decisions to a cross-functional organization.
